A line of script that'll never air on the savvy traveler: the motorways adjacent to the missouri river are a veritable abbatoir for creatures other than people; it seems a vast killing ground for things that fly, crawl, slither or saunter. Racoons and turtles mostly, but there are plenty of rabbits, possums, birds, snakes, frogs, and bugs amongst the nameless dead.

The smell of carrion and rive-bottom mud can be overwhelming at times, particularly in the oppressive heat and humidity...
